about

This is Taylor Abrahamse's finalist track. If you’re singing along to a song you don’t know, and suddenly feeling 10 years younger – you’re probably at a Taylor Abrahamse concert. Like a maple leaf caught in a gust above the Ontario prairies, Taylor blissfully floats between the borders of songwriting with his hook-laden hammerclaw pop. With little more than a mahogany Martin, his playfulness, stunning songcraft & honesty leave audiences teary-eyed, electrified, and at ease with their inner-kid. Electri-eased? Easified? Whatever! His roots were born from a Paul Simon/Jim Carrey crossbreed, ready to break the rules with a glint in his eye, a tip of his Grandpa’s old cap.

lyrics

I've got a brain that's got a switch that makes a thought like:
“I should just stay in bed.”
But I got a dream that paves the way to melt the pain,
For me to forget my old head.

Why they gotta sell me like I don’t know what I’m doin?
Every day they treat me like the first day of school
Movin where - I don’t know - Findin’ while they stomp on my light...
That even if I cry...

I won't put up with it, I won't put up
I've seen the other side, and if its right, I don't wanna be.
I won't put up with it, I won’t put up I know
I’ll make a new world, oooh
I won’t put up with it no!

Take a breath, take a breath...

We see the game, we’re overworked to feed some jerk
And keep em’ fat and entertained
Love thy neighbor, shoot thy father, love’s the answer,
Now please go on and hate

Ohhh, Still they wanna sell me like I don’t know what I’m doin’
Cos every day I’m movin on a permanent high,
Like that’s some kinda crime?

I won't put up with it, I won't put up
I've seen the other side, and if it’s right, I don't wanna be.
I won't put up with it, I won’t put up I know
I’ll make a new world (Just give me the new world!)
Yeah yeah, I won’t put up with it no!

I want a new world now...

Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Just imagine what this world could be
Why don’t u let yourself be free
Why you bust a cap on it!?
An ordinary world with ordinary thoughts
So dangeous, cos you can never see the cost,
Less ya won’t put up with it

I want the new world... now!
Oooh won’t you give it to me
No, No, I won’t put up with it no!

I won't put up with it, I won't put up
I've seen the other side, and if it’s right, I don't wanna be.
I won't put up with it, I won’t put up with it...
I want the new world now
I want it now!

(Just imagine what this world could be
Why don’t you let yourself be free?
Why ya bust a cap on it?)

Its really what its all about
What its really all about.
Quit livin’ asleep, you gotta wake up
Don’t wait for the feelin’,
Gotta find the feelin’
Gotta get up, get up, get up...
I’m talking wake up, wake up, lets see...
